The Doctorate cycle is training for research, culminating in obtaining a doctoral degree, after a research defense before a jury.
The doctoral cycle is organized within the Centers for Doctoral Studies (CED).
The doctorate is a diploma which certifies a doctoral course consisting of a set of research work aimed at to enable the doctoral student to acquire knowledge, skills and competences to undertake and lead in the long term, high-level scientific research.
In addition to research activities, doctoral students participate in compulsory additional training (specific teaching, project management, languages and communication, initiation to university pedagogy, monitoring and tutoring, doctoral forums, etc.). The hourly volume of additional training is 200 hours.
To register for a doctorate, the candidate must hold a Master's degree, a specialized Master's degree or a diploma recognized as equivalent and meeting the admission criteria provided for in the description of the doctoral training of the Center for Doctoral Studies concerned.
